The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the sale of tickets for the Cricket World Cup 2023 will begin on August 25, while the event will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad, India.
The first match of the World Cup host team India is scheduled once morest Australia on October 8 in Chennai, following which the most important and exciting match of the World Cup will be played between arch-rivals Pakistan and India on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
According to a Times of India report, cricket fans will not have immediate access to purchase tickets for all the matches as ticket sales will be done in an orderly manner at all stages.
The preliminary schedule for the 50-over cricket World Cup was released in June, for which no final decision had been taken on whether Pakistan would send a team to India.
Later, the schedule was changed on August 9 and two months before the start of the World Cup, the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) requested foreign teams to change the schedule.
According to the revised schedule, the teams of Pakistan and India will compete once morest each other in the world’s largest cricket stadium, Ahmedabad, on October 14 instead of October 15.
Among the other changes made in the schedule, the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will now be played on October 10 instead of the old date.
Similarly, Australia’s match once morest South Africa will be played in Lucknow on October 12, England and Afghanistan teams will face each other in Delhi on October 15 with a delay of one day from the old schedule.
The match between New Zealand and Bangladesh was initially scheduled for October 14 in Chennai in daylight but now the match will be a day-night affair and will be played on October 13.
According to the report, ICC will first start online registration to provide tickets to fans.
According to Times of India, ticket sales for the semi-final and final matches of the World Cup are scheduled to start from September 15.
