When will the first total solar eclipse of 2024 occur?

This will be the first time since August 2017 that a total solar eclipse will be observed in the US and the next time people in the region will have to wait until August 2044 to see it. The solar eclipse will begin in Mexico from where it will travel in a northeasterly direction from the United States and end in the eastern provinces of Canada. According to an estimate, 33.3 million people in the United States alone will be able to witness the solar eclipse.

During a total solar eclipse, the moon’s shadow completely hides the sun, and the daytime is dark. According to the American space agency NASA, the duration of the total solar eclipse on April 8 will be 3 and a half to 4 minutes.

The Moon does not suddenly appear in front of the Sun, but a partial eclipse begins the process that makes the Sun look like a crescent. The duration of this partial solar eclipse will be 70 to 80 minutes.

When the Moon passes in front of the Sun, the corners of the Moon appear to be illuminated by the rays of our solar system, but with a total eclipse, the illumination disappears.

Residents of Mexico, the United States and Canada that will not be in the path of the eclipse will be able to witness a partial eclipse in which the moon only blocks the face of the sun.

During a total solar eclipse, the sky darkens and bright stars or planets appear to glow while the temperature of the atmosphere drops.

With the sudden darkness, even the animals become silent and the outer hot core of the Sun becomes visible.

The solar eclipse on April 8 will begin at 12:07 PM Pakistan time on April 9 and end at 1:46 PM. After that, the next total solar eclipse will be in August 2026, which will be visible in countries like Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Portugal.

Keep in mind that direct viewing of a partial solar eclipse is damaging to the eyesight. However, the total solar eclipse can be seen with the eyes, but it is important to take care of the time.

Apart from this, partial eclipses must be observed with binoculars or solar glasses.
