When will the 6,260 new appointments be made? 2024-05-05 19:43:31

The ASEP pan-Hellenic written competition is coming to an end, with the Independent Authority having completed the processing of applications for the candidates of the 1st term/2023, while it has issued the provisional results for the 2nd term/2023 and following Easter the final results will be announced . However, for the announcement 3BG/2023, the tables with the results, according to information from the “Free Press”, are not expected before July.

For the record, let’s remember that the announcement 1GB/2023 concerns the filling of 141 PE and TE positions in the Civil Aviation Service. The 2GB/2023 announcement foresees the filling of 1,843 TE positions and through the 3GB/2023 announcement it is expected that 4,276 PE recruitments will be made throughout the State. According to ASEP sources, the appointments of the candidates will be made in the fall of 2024, exactly one and a half years from the day of the written competition (March 4, 2023). This, however, was not in the original intentions of the Ministry of the Interior, since the tender in question was made in order to speed up the recruitment procedures, which until now were too late. Certainly some mistakes were made that led to this delay, and in fact there were many complaints and protests from the participants to the Central Competition Committee. However, given that it was the first time this new recruitment system was implemented, we will wait to see what changes will be made so that the next corresponding competition runs more smoothly. The executives of the Independent Authority have already started to prepare the next pan-Hellenic written competition, which, however, according to the statements of the president of ASEP, Thanos Papaioannou, is not expected to take place before 2025.

Some time ago we wrote that not all the positions of the written competition will be filled and this was confirmed in the case of 2GB/2023. Out of a total of 1,843 positions, only 1,223 were filled, leaving 620 vacant. A total of 1,997 successful candidates applied for appointment. 49 of them were rejected due to an error in their application or lack of supporting documents. So what happened to the remaining 725 candidates who were not deemed eligible? ASEP sources point out that the positions that remain vacant have to do with their distribution across Greece and the choices of the candidates. Apparently, following the relative exhortation of the president of ASEP, Thanos Papaioannou, not all the candidates declared all the positions that existed in their sector – specialty. In any case, we will have to wait for the final results to finally see how many of the 1,843 positions will be filled. The announcement of the final tables will be made following the adjudication of any objections. According to ASEP’s announcement, candidates have until Wednesday, April 24, to submit an objection to their applications.

The next corresponding competition may still be delayed, as the president of ASEP clarified, it is not expected to take place before 2025, but the Ministry of the Interior is already considering some changes in terms of the structure and the way of conducting the 2nd Panhellenic written competition. One of these changes is that Secondary Education graduates will be able to participate in the next competition, which they might not until now. Also, in the next written competition, a “cutter” is expected to be introduced in terms of candidates’ choices, to limit phenomena such as, for example, candidates rejecting the position they had initially chosen.

At the same time, the current system of unlimited options has the effect of delaying the process of issuing the final results much longer. Henceforth, candidates will be given the opportunity to choose limited positions for which they are really interested and in which they have the will and the ability to work.

At the same time, the basis of 50 (with an excellent score of 100) should not be taken for granted in ASEP competitive procedures with written exams. According to an amendment by the Ministry of the Interior, fluctuations in the base are allowed in knowledge tests and in tests of skills and work efficiency.
