Doctors speak of a high blood pressure emergency if there is a sudden increase in blood pressure in combination with the symptoms mentioned. He needs treatment immediately.

Especially in patients who already have high blood pressure, it can also lead to a so-called Hypertension Crisis come. The pressure suddenly increases, but those affected have no serious symptoms. Sometimes such a crisis is accompanied by a slight headache or restlessness. It is usually sufficient to lie down and rest. Only if the blood pressure does not drop again should an emergency doctor be called in the high-pressure crisis.

Experts point out that everyone should check their blood pressure regularly – either themselves or with their family doctor. Untreated high blood pressure can cause a heart attack or kidney damage, among other things.
