He manages to think that even before he sees the inner wheels of the yellow wagon lift off the road.
– This might go really wrong.
Around the roundregarding a blue New Holland tractor comes chugging along. A meter-high crane balances on a yellow cart behind it.
And as the vehicle approaches the driveway where 35-year-old Casper Hansen is in his white Tesla, it happens.
The crane gets out of balance. The cart tips.
In the next second, the long red crane arm is heading straight down towards him.
With his left hand still resting on the steering wheel, Casper Hansen quickly bends forward, down next to the steering wheel. Completely instinctive.
Then everything turns black.
10 minutes difference
Monday 9 October 2023 was actually a Monday like many others. Casper Hansen had been busy getting from his robot company, Technicon in Hobro, to his home town of Galten in East Jutland.
He had to pick up his children from daycare.
Therefore, he had avoided staying and talking to one of his employees, who had otherwise asked for 10 minutes of his time.
For an hour, Casper Hansen was trapped in his car under the large crane arm that had fallen on top of him.

– I may regret that today. Imagine if I had stayed the extra minutes, says Casper Hansen.
