In the studio, comedian Mehmood and composer Rahul Dev Burman were on a quest to refine a set tune.

Then after calling various studios, finally Kishore Kumar was found at one place who promised that he would reach in 15 to 20 minutes and this was told by comedian Mehmood to RD Burman and Asha Bhosle.
The difficulty of the trio was that for this song they thought that Kishore Kumar was the idol as the song was very catchy and after listening to the lyrics and lyrics, it was decided that Kishore Kumar would sing the song.
In fact, this song was included in the film as it was based on the original film’s soundtrack.
Mehmood could see that RD Burman’s thoughts were changing as Kishore Kumar’s wait was getting longer.
Now this was the time when Kishore Kumar was very busy not only in acting but also in singing. Kishore Kumar was the first choice of every filmmaker.
And then half of 15 minutes and then an hour passed. Asha Bhosle knew that Mehmood and RD Burman’s blood pressure was getting high.
That’s why, to save the matter from getting worse, he made a suggestion that why not Mehmood should sing this song and since this song will be filmed on him in the film, it will become natural.
Mehmood had this quality that he was not only acting but also singing. Producer, director, singer and actor, Mehmood was called an all-round artist.
RD Burman also agreed with Asha Bhosle’s opinion, but Mehmood was not ready.

Mehmood stood in front of the mic while Asha Bhosle was by his side. Now both of them started humming. The song ‘Muthukudi Kavadi Huda’ means ‘Will you come to hunt pearls.’
The song was recorded and became such a hit that Asha Bhosle and RD Burman urged Mehmood to add his own voice to the film.
On March 21, 1973, the film ‘Do Phool’ hit the theaters and did excellent business, while Mahmood was nominated for the Filmfare Awards as a comedian but did not win the award.
When Kishore Kumar heard that song, he himself became a fan of Mehmood’s singing and was forced to say that he could not have sung that song better than Mahmood.
The song is popular till date and the reason is attributed to its lyrics as well as Mahmood’s singing.
‘Doophol’ is the film which was remade 20 years after its release as ‘Aankheen’, starring Govinda, Chunky Pandey and Raj Babbar, but the song was not remade.
