Alexis Lafrenière’s contractual situation is starting to disturb New York. A restricted free agent, the Rangers forward has yet to sign a new deal with the team.
“I know that the negotiations are going well, I remain confident,” said Lafrenière, however, exactly a month ago, to the colleague of the Journal, Jean-François Chaumont.

Since then, the one who was the first overall pick in the 2020 draft is still waiting for the conclusion of a new contract, most likely short-lived.
Earlier this summer, Rangers general manager Chris Dury already shut down rumors that Lafrenière might be traded.
Zegras is also patient
Lafrenière’s situation, 21, is not unique among restricted free agents. Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras hopes to get along with his team soon, as does defender Evan Bouchard with the Edmonton Oilers, among others.
In his third season with the Rangers, in 2022-2023, Lafrenière had 39 points, including 16 goals, in 81 games. The former Rimouski Océanic has scored 47 goals and 91 points since the start of his career in 216 regular season games.
