Seasonal rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is an allergic reaction caused by exposure to pollen. According to the Government of Quebec, one in five people suffers from it across the province.
Congestion, repeated sneezing and headaches are among the main symptoms.
Seasonal rhinitis is usually present three times a year: from March to June (pollen of trees and shrubs), from May to October (pollen of grasses), and from July to October (pollen of grass lice).
If certain drugs such as antihistamines are available in pharmacies, the government invites people with more intense allergies to consult a doctor.
