Nearly 10,500 athletes will arrive in Paris, France, to meet in the largest multidisciplinary event in the world: the Olympic Games.

The French capital will host for just over three weeks the thirty-third edition of the Summer Olympic Games which will feature a total of 32 sports and 329 events, including some new ones such as breakdancing and skateboarding.

Everything is ready in the City of Light so that they are weeks of action and excitement. From the Opening ceremony on the iconic River Seine where the athletes will march until the closing ceremony at the legendary Stade de France stadium.

For Paris 2024 they will be A total of 15 Guatemalan athletes who have confirmed their presence at the Games. For some it will be their first experience at an event of this magnitude, while for others it will be their fifth Olympic appointment.

When do the Olympic Games start?

The sporting event is scheduled to begin Officially on Friday, July 26but events such as football, rugby and handball will start on the 24th due to calendar issues.

At the ceremony marking the opening of the Paris Games, each delegation will be on a boat equipped with cameras allowing spectators to follow the event on the River Seine live.

There will be regarding 10,500 athletes who will cross the river and along 6 kilometers until ending in front of Trocadero, where the final elements of the ceremony and the shows will take place.

Once the games officially begin, the excitement will continue until August 11.

The 15 athletes who will represent Guatemala

On July 3, 2024, the Guatemalan Olympic Committee officially announced who will represent Guatemala in the sporting events and also determined the flag bearers and escorts.

Kevin Cordón (badminton), Alberto González (athletics), Erick Gordillo (swimming), Lucero Mejia (swimming), Waleska Soto (hunting weapons shooting), Adriana Ruano (hunting weapons shooting), Jean Pierre Brol (hunting weapons shooting), Sebastian Bermudez (hunting weapons shooting), Andres Fernandez (modern pentathlon), Sophia Hernandez (modern pentathlon) and Jacqueline Solis (judo), Juan Ignacio Maegli (sailing), Luis Grijalva (athletics), Jose Barrondo (athletics) and Érick Barrondo (athletics) make up the Guatemalan delegation.
