When Asha Parekh fainted on the set

Asha Parekh was unwell but was still present on the set. The convalescence was evident on her face, but despite that she was freshened up and ready to pose after leaning on the chair for a while. It was one o’clock in the night.

The 60s are when Asha was testing her artistic skills in two films simultaneously.

The interesting thing was that both the films were from the same production house namely Nasir Hussain.

One film was ‘Tesri Manzil’ and the other was ‘Baharon Ke Sapne’. Asha Parekh had separate heroes Shami Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna in both the films.

She rose to fame by working in director Nasir Hussain’s hit films ‘Dil De Ke Dekho’ and ‘Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai’.

Rather, with the film ‘Dil De Ke Dekho’, she got her first lead role and the film was also a success at the box office, after which Asha never looked back and moved on.

She had great respect for Nasir Hussain because she felt that without him, her career would have remained in obscurity.

Seeing them in a sleepy state, Spot Boy asked them in a worried tone that their health is fine. Asha replied through eye expressions that they fit perfectly.

One of the reasons for this weakness was that Asha used to be busy shooting the ‘Third Manzil’ throughout the day and then after sunset she would use all her abilities in the ‘Spring Dream’ until 2:30 PM and these routines were many. had been going on for weeks.

This was the reason why Asha was not getting a chance to get enough sleep but she was such a professional artiste that Nasir Hussain who was also the producer of these two films would not be harmed. She was just going to work with her head down.

The production member tells Asha that the song of ‘Baharon Ke Sapne’ will be shot today. The set was a dream scene for which hero Rajesh Khanna was fully prepared.

The film ‘Baharon Ke Sapne’ was black and white and the song ‘Kya Jaanu Sajjan Hoti Kya Gham Ki Shaam’, which was mirrored, was also the only color song in the film, the lyrics of which were distorted. Sultanpuri while lyrics were composed by RD Burman.

Asha expressed some satisfaction that today only the song was filmed and that too in which she was not given much chance to dance but the main job was the cameraman, who sat on the trolley and shot the camera. It kept moving from right to left or back and forth.

After pointing out the cinematographer, Asha went to the required place and stood.

A song started playing on the record player to which he began to perform while moving his lips.

It was only a few minutes before he felt like the whole set was spinning. At first he thought it was his illusion, but then darkness began to fill his eyes.

Before he could recover he suddenly fell to the floor of the set. Nasir Hussain made a loud sound of kit-kit. Eventually, it reached those who were lying down.

Nasir Hussain shouted and ordered the stunt to immediately remove the non-essential people from the set and also to call the doctor.

Everyone was worried about this new situation. A few minutes passed before Stunt came running with the doctor.

They were by then laid on a comfortable mattress, with a Spot Boy fan swinging at their head.

The doctor examined Asha and found that she was suffering from fever. Blood pressure was completely down.

She regained consciousness after a few moments of labor due to the immediate medical attention of the doctor.

The doctor told Nasir Hussain that Asha is very weak and her health is definitely affected due to lack of sleep.

After remaining silent for a few seconds, the doctor turned around and asked Asha whether your symptoms are indicating that you are suffering from any disease. Is that so?

In response, she said in a low tone that she is fighting typhoid, which is also being treated.

His revelation was like a bomb blast on everyone. Nasir Hussain’s mercury became high.

Looking at his condition, Asha said that he was suffering from this disease for many days and could not describe Nasir Hussain because his films might not be affected.

Nasir Hussain was shocked to know this. At the same time, he called for ‘pack up’ and announced that until Asha fully recovers. No filming will be done.

Many were quick to appreciate Asha’s professional attitude.

Now Asha got a sick leave which after a few weeks when she recovered and returned to the sets, the shooting of the films started once again.

The effect of this whole incident was that whenever Nasir Hussain or his brother Tahir Hussain planned a film, they would try their best to make Asha the first choice.

‘Spring Dreams’ hit the theaters on June 23, 1967 and did excellent business.

Fans got lost in the colorful song, but no one knew that Asha Parekh also fainted during the filming of the same song.
