The music community and rock lovers were saddened by the unpleasant news of the death of Antonis Turkogiorgis, an accomplished musician and one of the founding members of the legendary band “Socrates Drank the Conium”. The funeral of Antonis Turkogiorgis will take place on Wednesday, May 8 at 18:00 at the Chalandrio cemetery,
The artist “passed away” at the age of 73 and after a long battle with serious health problems, which had been bothering him for 14 years.
Antonis Turkogiorgis, in April 2010, was hospitalized in Athens following a stroke, and since then he never managed to recover.
In addition to his personal discography, he became known as the bass player and singer of one of the greatest Greek bands, “Socrates Drank the Conium”, which were one of the most historic bands of Greek rock, active in four decades (1970 to 2000 ).

Turkogiorgis was the band’s bassist and singer, alongside Yiannis Spathas, Ilias Boukouvalas, Giorgos Trantalidis and Nikos Antipas.
Antonis Turkogiorgis had played several times in Patras, causing “musical alarm” among rock music devotees. One of the best concerts that local music lovers remember was the one he gave in the mid-90s, in the small theater of the Castle of Patras.
The artist had spoken to “P” and its journalist, Panagiotis Rigopoulos, noting among other things:
“Rock for me is an absolute expression of freedom! It may change its identity and style every season, but it will always mean the power of life! The scene for me is a kind of doping! I am passionate and live two and three lives, on stage! There is no better way to externalize my truth! On the music stage, I make my own confession! I am real!’
