When and where there may be rain with thunder and lightning, said the Meteorological Department – Pakistan

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with thunder in different cities of the country, while Karachi is also likely to receive rain during August 9 to 11.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thundershowers at a few places in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast Punjab, Potohar region and Islamabad. Strong winds and thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Upper Sindh, while heavy rain is also expected at a few places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast Punjab and Kashmir.

Islamabad

In addition to hot and humid weather in Islamabad and Gir two areas, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in the morning and night hours, while there may be heavy rain in a few places.

Speeding at few places in Murree, Guliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Mianwali. There is a possibility of rain with winds and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, heavy rain is also expected at few places in Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore and Hafizabad. During the night, gusty winds and thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Leh, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A new series of rains is likely to start in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today, while PDMA has expressed the fear of landslides in upper districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, the new series of rains is likely to continue from August 9 to August 12 and during this time Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Butgram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Malakand, Heavy winds and thundershowers are expected at few places in Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Charsadda, Peshawar, Kohat, Kirk, Bannu, Tank, DI Khan, Waziristan and Orakzai.

Irfan Kathia has further said that Commissioners, DCs, WASA, Irrigation Department, Rescue, Civil Defense and other related departments have been instructed to be alert, the situation is being monitored 24 hours in the control room.
