But none other than Dev Anand stopped them from doing so, saying that their facial markings would be seen as something that set them apart.

According to The Indian Express, Shatrughan Sinha appeared as a guest on Arbaaz Khan’s talk show ‘The Invincibles’ where he discussed his life and career.

He spoke about his love story with his wife Poonam, apart from the personal hurdles he had to overcome to become an actor. He said that one of these personal obstacles was his appearance.

Shatrughan Sinha told Arbaaz that when he tried to imitate his uncle and trim his imaginary beard, he got a bruise on his face.

“I bit my cousin’s cheek first, then mine,” he said in Hindi. They gave me first aid at home.

‘But when I started working in films, I started wondering if I should fix it. I even spoke to a plastic surgeon.’

The veteran actor added, ‘Those days, when my efforts were on, I used to meet Dev Anand a lot. They forbade me to fix the wound, and told me, even they have gaps between their teeth and it has become fashionable … I was very ashamed of the wound. I used to think, I am coming in movies with a cut-and-dry look, how will I make my place.’

But eventually he developed such a strong connection with the audience that he stopped playing supporting and villainous roles and became a central figure.

Earlier, well-known personalities of the industry like Javed Akhtar, Helen and Salim Khan have participated in Arbaaz Khan’s show as guests.
