Reactions to messages on Whatsapp have been a reality since May 5 of this year when the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced it, however this function only has 6 emojis in total.
The emojis that indicate like, I love it, it amuses me, it amazes me, it saddens me and the clash of two hands or clap; they are the only ones that are currently available within the messaging platform.
However, with more than 6,000 emojis available on cell phone and computer keyboards, the app’s developers thought it would be a good idea for users to react with whatever they want.
So the first clues of what this function would be is already reaching the Beta versions of Android and iOS.
According to the WaBetaInfo portal, which is responsible for disseminating the latest WhatsApp features and updates, as well as filtering unconfirmed information, the possibility of reacting with any emoji available on the platform is already a reality in beta versions 2.22.15.6 for Android and 22.14.0.71 for iOS.
Which would be an indication that this feature will soon be available for all downloaded versions of the messaging platform. According to the way it has been presented in the Beta version, the way to react with any emoji to the messages would be the following:
– Press and hold the message you want to react to.
– When the 6 emojis that are already available appear on the screen, a gray + will be seen right next to them.
– By pressing the + image, on Android the activated keyboard will be shown in the section of emojis to add, and on iOS a list with all the emojis will appear.
According to the leaks of the portal, in this way the emojis might be added to the reactions section, however we will have to wait to see if this bar will be customizable, being able to add the favorite emojis by default, or if, like the section of emoticons, the recently used ones will be displayed.
In any case, for now, almost no user has access to this function since the beta version is very limited, so we have to wait for an official confirmation from the company.
On the other hand, WhatsApp seems that in recent days it has been very determined to bring updates and new features to its users, since only a few days ago it was known that the application would have avatars to make video calls.
With the above, these 3D avatars would be customizable and would be specially designed to make video calls. In this way, the real image of the people would not be seen, but the digital creation with 3D modeling.
This would be a very useful tool for days when people don’t feel well or simply don’t want to be seen on camera, being able to use these avatars to present a digitized image of themselves in video calls.
And although the main purpose of these 3D characters developed by WhatsApp are teleconferences, they can also be used as stickers to be sent in individual chats or shared in groups.
Finally, these fully customizable avatars might be part of the metaverse that Meta is developing.
