WhatsApp will get more updated interface on iOS

After a few good years without significant changes, the WhatsApp is finally working on updating its application’s interface to iOS. In addition to the translucent effect that we already mentioned, now the app is also testing a new interface for Settings sectionwhich will now have rounded shapes.

Accordingly with yet another discovery WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is abandoning the interface that groups the elements of each section in rectangular shapes with straight corners and that occupy the width of the entire screen in favor of rounded ones with margins on the sides. It’s the visual standard that was adopted by Apple in iOS 15 both in the Settings app and elsewhere in the system.

The change has already been adopted by Meta on WhatsApp profile pages, but for the first time it was also observed in the Settings menu. The tests, in a way, make things a little confusing, since recent betas of the application indicated another interface standard for the section.

This alternative interface incorporated elements from profile pages, but still had the straight shapes currently present in Settings. Obviously, one of the two concepts should come out as “victorious” in this matter — or, who knows, even a mixture of the two.

Another novelty is regarding the translucent design that will be adopted by the app. Now, we can also see it on the chat pages, which will gain the effect at the top (where the contact’s name and photo are). Launched by Apple in iOS 7, this effect is already present in third-party apps like Telegram and Twitter and, despite having already been tested by WhatsApp in the distant past, it ended up not taking hold.

Finally, WhatsApp continues to test the adoption of a more modern standard that is more consistent with Apple’s current visual guidelines for its contextual menus. It is possible to observe the change, for example, in the “Edit” menu for archived chats, which will now appear in the upper right corner (and no longer in the lower part) — something similar to the future contextual menu for calls.
