WhatsApp is working to improve channels by implementing small adjustments. Verified channels are currently marked with a green badge to ensure their authenticity. However, with the latest update of the WhatsApp beta for Androidwe discovered that WhatsApp has plans to replace this seal with a different checkmark, in blue, standardized with other Meta seals.

What do you need to know:

WhatsApp is working on replacing the green verification badge with a blue checkmark for verified channels and businesses. This update will be available in a future version of the application.

As you can see in the screenshot, WhatsApp plans to replace the green badge with a blue one in a future app update. Additionally, this change will also apply to verified businesses.

We think this isn’t surprising, especially considering Mark Zuckerberg’s recent announcement about the possibility for businesses on WhatsApp to sign up for Meta Verified in the future, which would give them a verification badge and various perks like spoofing protection and dedicated technical support.

We believe Meta wants to standardize the color of the verification badge across all its apps, as the verification checkmark is blue on both Instagram and Facebook. By changing the color of the current verification badge to blue, WhatsApp would align the icon with the Meta branding and create a consistent verified branding across other Meta platforms.

Is the stamp paid?

It is worth highlighting that the introduction of this new blue seal does not necessarily imply a automatic Meta Verified extension for WhatsApp channels, as they may want to just focus on unifying the look and feel of the badge across all apps in the Meta family. So this WhatsApp badge will probably be free to begin with.

The blue checkmark for verified channels and companies is under development and will be available in a future app update. As always, we will publish a new article when we have more information to share with you.
