LONDON (AP) — The WhatsApp messaging service will allow users to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending them. The platform announced Monday on its blog that users will be able to correct typos, add more details or otherwise change messages sent to family, friends and co-workers.

The ability to edit messages has begun to roll out gradually and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, the platform, owned by Meta, Facebook’s parent company, said.

To correct a text, users must long press on the message and select “edit”. Revised messages will be marked as “edited,” but recipients won’t be able to see the edit history, WhatsApp said.

Apple introduced the ability to edit and delete messages from its iMessaging service between iPhone models last year in a system update. Recipients can see that a message has been deleted and the edit history, according to the company.
