WhatsApp will allow adding a PIN code to user names – Process

MADRID, (Portaltic/EP) – WhatsApp has been working for months on user names to increase privacy in its messaging service, which can be additionally protected by a PIN to control new contacts.

The technology company began working on usernames last year. These will be unique and chosen by the user, and will be preceded by the at sign. Its purpose is to identify the user to other people and add an extra layer of privacy, since the phone number will not have to be shown.

The username is intended to keep new communications private. And to make progress in this, WhatsApp is working on the possibility of entering a PIN code of at least four digits, as reported by the specialized portal WABetainfo.

The user will be able to share this PIN, which makes it important that it does not contain private information, and other people will have to write it down to start the conversation, since its purpose is to control who can contact them.

The advanced username with PIN feature has been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.18.2 for Android. It is currently under development but is expected to arrive with an upcoming update to the service.
