WhatsApp: what to do if you forget your encrypted backup password

Some time ago, we showed here on MacMagazine how can you enable encrypted backups on WhatsApp. This allows your account to be even more protected, as no one will be able to access your content.

Despite being highly recommended, this process requires that you necessarily create a password (which needs to be at least six characters and one letter). Because if you ended up forgetting that combination, know that it is possible to do some procedures to change that password — even if you forgot it.

See how easy it is!

On iPhone, open WhatsApp and tap the “Settings” tab in the bottom right corner. Then go to Chats » Chat backup » End-to-end encrypted backup » Change password.

Select “I forgot my password” and confirm your identity (this can be done using Face ID, Touch ID or the password used to unlock your phone). After that, create a new password.

Now save it somewhere safe. ????
