A research carried out by the institute Opinion Box in partnership with the website Mobile Time provided a panorama quite complete of the application market in Brazil. Things like the most used app were researched, as well as the most popular services in different categories.

Without anything new, the WhatsApp is the app that Brazilians open most throughout the day, having been chosen by 52% of those surveyed, followed by Instagram (21%). When the question was regarding the time usually spent on apps, the situation was reversed, with Instagram leading (35%) and WhatsApp coming in second (28%).

Meta’s messenger is also the app that 52% of Brazilians would choose if they might only have one software installed on their device. It is present on the home screen of 55% of respondents, followed by Instagram (50%), Facebook (33%), Nubank (15%), YouTube (14%) e Telegram (13%).

In the field of streaming service apps, Netflix is the video platform subscribed to by 80% of respondents, while the Spotify is the most subscribed audio service (by 62%). Apple services (such as Music and TV+) did not appear by name, being restricted to the percentage of “other” services subscribed to by users.

Given the low number of iPhones in relation to Android smartphones in Brazil, a low success rate for Apple products was somewhat expected. The company’s only participation was in the category of apps used for reading, with the Books (Books) coming in 5th place — it is present on the devices of 2% of those interviewed.

There are also some interesting highlights, such as the sudden drop in X (former Twitter), which last year was installed on the devices of 37% of users, but this year it is only installed on 29%. The research also pointed out apps like Alexa, Booking.com, Prime Video, Feels like it e XP Investimentos as newcomers to the popularity radar.
