In a new beta build released this weekend, the WhatsApp has started testing the much-requested themes feature. The new feature is present in version 24.1.10.70 available for iPhone.

According to a screenshot released by the folks at WABetaInfo, WhatsApp should provide five color options so that the user can apply them to stamps on unread messages and also to the internal icons in the bottom bar.

Available colors include: a new shade of green, blue, white, pink and purple.

Check below that the application has created a new “appearance” tab within the settings page.

This change introduced by WhatsApp responds to public feedback on iOS, as the messenger began testing the color green as the only option within the application and this displeased users.

For those who don’t remember, WhatsApp has always used blue as an accent color within iOS and this recent change was not well received.

In an analysis carried out on the WhatsApp code, WABetaInfo also discovered that, in future versions, it will be possible to apply this highlight color to conversation bubbles.

For now, the new feature is only available to a limited number of beta users, but it may be released in the public version of the application soon.

It is worth remembering that the themes feature has always been something that has been highly requested by users and this functionality will probably also come to Android, but it will not be something that completely modifies the application’s background color.
