Until 2017, what is now called a message was known as Status WhatsApp. That year, however, the feature that has since gained its name was launched, which is similar to Instagram Stories.
Now, the messenger is testing a feature that might further modify the message. According to WABetaInfoa new feature was found in testing that consists of Temporary text statuses. In other words, in place of the current message, the idea would be to add a new function that allows you to insert phrases for defined periods and that are not persistent, disappearing following the chosen time.
To add a new Text Status there is a new button, located below your profile photo, in a new section called “You”. There, suggestions for texts to be displayed will be available, as well as options for the time during which the Status will be displayed.
Something interesting is that — at least until this point in testing — there is no option for a text Status to stay on the profile for more than two weeks. The idea would then be to bring the resource closer to Instagram Notes, encouraging users to always update the resource — instead of a permanent phrase, as is the case today.
The change will be interesting for users who frequently change the message present in their profiles, with a more ephemeral use of the resource and becoming something even more efficient, being able to define the time during which the text will be displayed. For those who keep some text persistently, however, the news may not be the best.
As it is still in the testing version, it is possible that the feature will be modified until it reaches all users — something that is also unknown for now.
