Apparently, the WhatsApp intends to offer users the opportunity to see which contacts have been online recently, as discovered by WABetaInfo in the latest beta version of the messenger.
The list of recently online contacts, as seen in the image below, is located when you tap the button to start a new chat.
O WABetaInfo indicates that the feature was built with privacy in mind, as contacts who have disabled their last seen and online status will not be available in this list, ensuring that user preferences are always respected.
The feature is available to select testers who install the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and is expected to roll out to more people in the coming weeks.
New forward button
In the stable version of the messenger, the most recent update brought a small new feature. Although not mentioned in the release notes, o WABetaInfo confirmed that WhatsApp has implemented a new forward button which allows users to quickly share Channel updates with their chats and groups.
The new button, as seen above, is located next to the reaction view, making it possible to forward new messages without opening the contextual menu.
The new feature is already being gradually released to users on the latest version of WhatsApp.
