WhatsApp tests community group chat events on Android – S24 – Smartphones24

WhatsApp introduced the Events feature for communities in May. In June, it began rolling out to group chat beta users on Android. Later, WhatsApp began testing group events for community announcements on its beta app for Android. Now, the developers of the planet’s most popular messenger app are working on a feature with the cumbersome name “Community group chat event duration.”

This revelation comes from WABetaInfoAccording to this, WhatsApp is currently testing the “Duration of community group chat events” function in beta version 2.24.17.11. However, so far only in the Android version – there is no information about the iOS app yet. With this function, community group members can create events with specific start and end times. You can also add a location and a WhatsApp call link to the events at the same time.

This feature should be helpful in communities where multiple events need to be scheduled. It’s unclear when WhatsApp will roll it out to all users worldwide. But if you’re using an Android smartphone and don’t want to wait for the public rollout, you can sign up for the beta program to try it out in advance.
