WhatsApp is testing new features for Communities. According to reports from the WABetaInfo portal regarding the latest beta version of the application, the developers are working to expand the options for controlling and managing these groups by administrators.
Specifically, in Android version 2.23.18.20, the possibility of limiting the direct addition of new members to administrators was implemented. Until now, anyone who was part of a Community might add other users, simply using the invitation link generated by the administrators. With the novelty, the process is protected and reserved only for those who manage the group.
This is an additional level of control and moderation, probably designed by WhatsApp to avoid overcrowding or cases of spam. Communities were introduced a few months ago to bring together large groups with common interests, so having effective tools to manage this complexity is critical.
The option to limit adding members is currently only available to some users who have installed the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for Android. The rollout will continue over the next few weeks and will also come to iOS and desktop operating systems.

Earlier, one of the previous updates, admins got the ability to choose which groups to include in their Community, another valuable moderation tool. New options for managing ads have also been added, allowing you to selectively target ads only to certain subgroups.
WhatsApp is investing heavily in Communities as a tool to make the chat experience more similar to social networks, conquering new slices of users.
