WhatsApp: soon new features for the image and video editing tool

WhatsApp will soon offer more ways to edit your photos before sending them.

WhatsApp has just released a new beta version of its Android application numbered “2.22.3.5”. According to WABetaInfo, the next WhatsApp novelties would directly concern the editing of videos and photos, with the addition of new options. The site thus reveals two new tools: new brushes and a function for blurring images.

Choose your pencil size

WhatsApp is adding two new options to its built-in media editor, according to a report from WABetaInfo. In its integrated photo editor, the application might soon offer three pencils.

Pens allow you to draw on images and screenshots before users send them. For the moment, the only customization of these designs was the choice of colors. Thanks to an upcoming WhatsApp update, users will now be able to choose between three different “mine” thicknesses. Two new pencil sizes will be offered to beta testers for their drawings, one thinner than the only existing one, and the other wider.

A blurring function

WhatsApp is also regarding to bring a new blur feature.

This second feature will allow users to blur certain parts of a photo before sending it. A manipulation that can be practical if the user wants to hide some of the sensitive data visible on a screenshot or a photo. In addition, this option makes sharing easier and faster. Indeed, it saves the user from having to go to a third-party application to access this feature.

The option already present on iOS and should therefore soon be extended to Android smartphones.

Both changes are currently not yet available on WhatsApp. The features are expected to come to the beta version of the app for iOS and Android first.
