WhatsApp: Snapchat-like AR filters and contact lists – Punto Informatico

WhatsApp is working to make the video calls even more engaging and fun thanks to the introduction of filters AR. Initially available only to a limited group of beta testers on Android, the feature is now also accessible to iOS testers with the update to version 24.17.10.74, as revealed by WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp AR Filters Are Coming

In addition to the classic creative filters, WhatsApp is also introducing some filters practical to improve the video calling experience. Among these, a low-light filter stands out, which will allow clear conversations even in less than optimal lighting conditions.

New features for organizing contacts

In addition to AR filters, WhatsApp is also developing new list-building features in the 2.24.18.9 beta for Android. These lists can be made up of individual contacts or multiple groups, similar to how WhatsApp Business handles labels. The goal is to let users quickly communicate with contacts who share common interests, without having to create one large group where everyone can interact with each other. This could be especially useful for managing projects or events.
