After a few weeks of the announcement and months of its testing phase, WhatsApp finally released support for sharing photos and videos in high definition to all users.
Confirmation came via the messenger’s spokesperson, Ellie Heatrick, at the portal. The Verge. Meta also confirmed the arrival of the feature globally through a promotional video on the Threads platform, on the official profile of the messaging app, as you can see below:
To use the new possibility, just select an image or video from your camera roll. At the top of the screen, to the left of the cropping tool, an “HD” button will appear. You must select it and then choose from the menu that appears whether you want “Standard Quality” or “HD Quality”.
Until then, WhatsApp users only had the option of sending photos with high compression, which reduces the quality of the capture. In practice, this left the messenger behind other competitors, which already provided the functionality for sending in high definition.
If this possibility has not yet reached you, it is worth checking if there is any pending WhatsApp update for your cell phone. You can check the existence of an update in the official stores for Android and iOS, through the links located on the card below the text.
