WhatsApp prohibits screenshots of contact photos; this is the new function

WhatsApp It is still working on implementing updates to take care of user privacy. And on this occasion, it seeks to introduce a tool that will prevent taking screenshot at profile photos of other contacts.

According to WABetaInfo, the platform has released an update for beta users in version 2.24.4.25 in which users are prohibited from taking screenshots of their contacts’ profile images. This seems to be an effort by WhatsApp to take care of the privacy of its users.

Although this update is still in its beta version, it is expected to be rolled out to all users soon.

According to the WABetaInfo report, this feature prevents taking screenshots of your contacts’ profile photos. When you open the photo and want to take a capture, The application throws a message that says:

“You cannot save the screenshot due to app restrictions,” in addition to the fact thatThe screen will go black.

And although WhatsApp has not yet revealed details of the update and the reason why it has implemented it, it is very likely that its wishes are protect users from cybercriminals and prevent them from falling into scams or being victims of identity theft.

Of course, it is worth noting that this will not prevent users from using other methods to take a photo of the profile image, such as use the camera of another cell phone.

WhatsApp has not revealed when this tool will reach all users, so it is worth keeping an eye on the platform’s official accounts, as well as the channels of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta. For now, Users can hide their WhatsApp profile photo to specific contacts.
