WhatsApp prepares new changes to adapt its interface to new trends
The instant messaging app will have the same visual definition for iOS or Android systems in one of the most radical changes in its history
WhatsApp instant messaging service started developing a new interface containing a navigation bar at the bottom, something similar to what happens with the social networks Instagram or TikTok.
This way, Meta would perform one of its changes most radical in the history of the application. In this way, the app will have the same visual definition for both mobile phones with iOS or Android operating systems.
“WhatsApp you are actually developing a modified interface for the application through the implementation of a lower navigation bar”, they highlighted from the WaBetaInfo portal, specialized in the news of the virtual platform.
In this sense, they explained that “thanks to the bottom navigation bar, it will definitely be easier for users navigate between the different sections of the application, since they can be easily accessed from the bottom of the screen”.
They detailed that having a navigation bar at the bottom for the Android system can bring consistency across different platforms, as the WhatsApp interface differs between iOS and Android, which can be confusing for users who switch between the two.
In addition, this modification is due to the need to adapt to a more current interface.
“The development of bottom navigation bar is a direct response to user requests of a more modern and intuitive navigation system: it seems that WhatsApp has finally taken user feedback to heart and is working to implement changes that will improve the overall user experience of the application, ”they noted.
This type of interface is present in Instagram and TikTok, where the bottom part is the place that users have to navigate between the different functions. Although WhatsApp does not have the same features, would be implementing the navigation model of the most popular apps today.
The change is not yet available for beta users to test, and there is also no date for its arrival. However, being a variation that would unify the interface on iOS and Android, it is probably a priority for the development team.
