About a month ago, we commented that the WhatsApp I was testing a feature of Channels on iOS very similar to that of Telegram. At the time, we explained that this news might be found in the tab “Status” of the messenger, which must be renamed to “Updates” to accommodate both temporary and new posts.
Well then, according to the staff WABetaInfoWhatsApp returned to make some more changes to the interface of this tab in its latest beta version on TestFlight (23.11.0.70). As you can see in the screenshot below, it was reorganized precisely to give more space to the channels.
With the change, the messenger’s traditional statuses are now displayed horizontally, and no longer in a vertical list – quite reminiscent of the Instagram view, for example. Thus, the temporary posts are all contained in a single section, while most of the screen is dedicated to the channels — these, yes, arranged in a vertical list.
This list, according to the information, will display the name of the channel, a preview of the last message sent in it and its icon. The “Updates” tab icon has also been redesigned to represent both statuses and channels.
As it is still a feature under development, this new interface cannot yet be accessed by users enrolled in the WhatsApp testing program. In addition, there is still no prediction of when the channels should be launched for everyone.
