WhatsApp launches new voice calling UI for iOS, Emoji shortcuts for Windows, and updated voice note sharing

The WhatsApp instant messaging wizard has launched a series of features over the past few weeks. These updates often include changes to the voice call interface, text entries, and the video call interface. The messaging app aims to enhance the user experience of its websites to a wide range of users across the globe.

Among the updates that WhatsApp has provided for the WhatsApp beta version for Android and iOS users are the new voice calling interface, emoji shortcuts, and updated voice notes sharing. Although there is no detailed information on the features in development, the app released several new features and changes in the past week.

WhatsApp to improve voice calls for iOS

According to WABetainfo, a website that tracks developments on WhatsApp, the messaging site recently introduced a new update with its TestFlight beta program. The new version, 2.22.5.70, mainly implements the new interface for voice calls on iOS.

The new interface has been changed for some beta testers. This is useful for those who make conference calls on their iOS devices. A long time ago, the app developed visual waveforms for voice messages in conference calls. Now, the tech company plans to deliver real-time sound waves for calls. This feature allows users to know who is speaking and who should disable themselves during the conversation. The portal reports that WhatsApp is planning to release wallpapers for voice calls.

Emoji Shortcuts

As part of the WhatsApp Beta UWP 2.2206.1.0 update, the app has introduced another useful feature to its users – Emoji Shortcuts. According to WABetainfo, users can now type a colon, followed by a quick selection of keywords associated with their favorite emoji during their conversations. Although it is available on the WhatsApp desktop/web, it is not on Windows.

Windows users can now use this feature and all they have to do is update to the latest beta version from the Microsoft Store. According to WABetainfo, users do not have to wait for activation because it is already enabled for everyone and they need to update their WhatsApp beta.

Sends voice notes

While users are still waiting for the introduction of the universal voice notes player, WhatsApp has come out with the latest changes in its voice notes features. According to the WhatsApp beta version of the Android 2.22.5.13 update, the app will now use orange icons for voice notes and forwarded audio files. This is done to distinguish between audio notes and transmitted audio files.

The latest update also brings faster playback on forwarded audio notes. If the original note was recorded by an updated version of WhatsApp, the voice notes will also be included in the sent voice notes.
