WhatsApp launches group calls of up to 32 participants, with the ability to silence contacts

WhatsApp has announced the launch of calls that can accommodate up to 32 participants and other news related to groups, such as the ability to send messages or mute these contacts during the audio and video conference.

Now Meta has rolled out these features globally and has announced that it has introduced calls for up to 32 people, that is, four times the number previously allowed.

Platform users can mute participants during the call individually. Likewise, they will be able to send messages during these calls separately, through a one-on-one chat.

Another novelty that this WhatsApp update integrates is the ability to create group call links, which can be shared with other contacts so that they can join a conversation with a single touch and no need for admin to add it to that call manually.

Finally, the company has explained that it has carried out “functional changes for a more fluid call experience”, among which are new colors for sound waves in video calls or banner notifications announcing that a new participant has joined them.

He also recalled that the system Picture in Picture en iOS is now in beta testing –a floating window feature outside the app during video calls that you noticed a few days ago WABetaInfo— and to be implemented in 2023.
