WhatsApp continues to improve its mobile application by regularly adding new features. The last novelty concerns the possibility of sending videos with a better resolution. Just like sharing photos, WhatsApp now lets you share high-definition videos on its service.
Like other instant messaging apps, WhatsApp previously had to automatically compress videos by reducing the resolution to 480p so that the file size was faster to download and send. However, this automatically reduced the quality of the videos that were sent.
You should know that video sharing was until now limited to a maximum definition of 480p knowing that our smartphones can film with much higher definitions these days.
This new feature will allow users to send videos in 720p maximum, ie a definition of 1280 x 720 pixels instead of 476 x 280 pixels.
If your application has already been updated, just activate the HD option when sending a video. When you select a video, a button on the top of the screen lets you choose between standard (default) or HD quality.
As you can see in the image below, the standard quality option remains the default. The goal for WhatsApp is to always allow fast image sharing when the quality of the bitrates is less good.
