After having unveiled the arrival of short video messages or the possibility of pinning important messages at the top of your conversations, WABetaInfo has just revealed what will be the next feature of WhatsApp, and this one will largely be inspired by Instagram.

Indeed, WhatsApp will soon have a text editor very similar to that of Instagram or Snapchat. On the new beta version 2.23.3.4 on Android, WhatsApp has added functionality to edit images, videos and GIFs using new tools and fonts.

WhatsApp copies Instagram and Snapchat

On the new version of WhatsApp, which is currently only available to a very small number of users in beta, it is now possible to add text on the images you send.

You can easily switch between fonts by tapping on any of the font options displayed above the keyboard, as you might on other social networks. It was already possible to change the font of a text, but WhatsApp now makes it easy to quickly select the font you want.

In addition, WhatsApp has a button to align text to the left, center or right, to better control the formatting of your annotations. Unsurprisingly, it is also possible to change the background color of the text, which makes it easier to differentiate the important text from the rest.

Finally, note that new fonts have been made available to beta testers, such as Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damion, Exo 2 and Morning Breeze. For now, it is not known if this feature will arrive quickly or not for all users, some features remaining in beta for many months. However, we hope that it will be quickly deployed on the stable version, so that WhatsApp can finally catch up on its rivals. In the meantime, we remind you that WhatsApp also plans to give you better control over your ephemeral messages, another feature that Meta had stolen from its competitors.
