WhatsApp introduces new updates to video calls

WhatsApp has implemented updates to their video calls. After implementing the option to share screen during video calls in May of last year, the Meta app now introduces new features that will undoubtedly improve the user experience.

What updates are coming to WhatsApp?

Through the official blog of the Meta app, it was announced that in the coming weeks there will be several updates to the video calling option on WhatsApp. The new features are:

  • Screen sharing with audio: This feature will allow you to share screen with audio.
    More participants: You can now make video calls with up to 32 participants on all your devices.
  • Featured Speaker: Don’t know who is speaking during a video call? With this update, you’ll be able to see who is speaking as they will be automatically highlighted and appear first on the screen.

In addition to these updates, WhatsApp noted that they continue working to improve the audio and video quality so calls are clearer no matter where you are.

Recently, it was launched MLow, A codec that improves calls avoiding noise and echo interferenceas well as higher resolution if your connection is faster.

“Audio is usually clearer, even if you have poor network connectivity or an older device,” WhatsApp notes.
