WhatsApp no longer works on some smartphones.
Following a privacy policy update, WhatsApp is phasing out some smartphones running older versions of Android and iOS. Thus, some smartphones no longer support the application since March 31.
On which operating systems?
On Android, the messaging application no longer works on smartphones with an operating system older than 4.1, which dates from 2012.
For iPhone users, versions prior to iOS 10 are affected. But for iOS, the case is a little more particular. For example, the iOS 12 version is compatible with the iPhone 5S released in 2013. Clearly, for some iPhones, it will be enough to download and update iOS with the latest version of the operating system to regain access to WhatsApp.
Check your operating system
On iPhone, the procedure for checking the operating system version is relatively simple. Just go to “Settings”, then “General”. The “Information” menu will then bring all the details regarding the system version.
On the side of Android users, the path changes slightly depending on the model. But, theoretically, you must first go to the “Settings” or “Configuration”, then select the “About phone” section. After clicking on “Software Information”, a menu shows the Android version of the device.
