WhatsApp has announced a number of new features that will be available to users in the Facebook-owned app over the next few weeks.
Most of these features were already known about as they arrived in the beta version.
But now after the announcement by the company we know that it will be available to common users soon.
One of these features is to easily add new contacts and for this purpose WhatsApp has introduced a new QR code.
Thanks to this feature, the user will be able to scan the QR code of another user and add them to the contacts, meaning there is no need to type the phone number.
This feature came out in beta version several months ago and is now being rolled out to all users.
Similarly, a feature regarding video calls has been further improved.
Video calls already support up to 8 people, now under the new feature the user will be able to view the full screen by long pressing on the icon of a person participating in the call.
Similarly, group chats are also getting a video icon to start a group video call with a single click, but it will only be visible in groups with 8 or less people.
Another feature is the animated sticker packs, which was also being tested in the beta version for some time.
Apparently, these animated stickers are the same as the existing WhatsApp stickers, only with animations added to them.
A new dark mode has also been introduced for the WhatsApp version and the desktop service which was already available in the mobile apps.
The last feature is the addition of a status feature to feature phones running on the Kai operating system.
WhatsApp said that the dark mode for the web version and the status feature for iOS are live now, while other features will be available to users in the next few weeks.
