Lately we have seen important changes in WhatsApp groups, some of which are even bringing them closer to the appearance of groups on Facebook. For example, we recently mentioned that group will offer the possibility to manage the approval of new participants in WhatsApp groups, and now there is a new feature in the polls function.
What’s new? Well, it turns out that the messaging application is adding a feature that allows users to limit their choice to a single option when responding to a survey. In terms of configuration, it works quite similar to Facebook group surveys, where if it is active, participants can only choose one option.
The ability to create slopes in WhatsApp chats was implemented in November last year. However, an important detail was that those who responded to the surveys might do so by choosing several options. In other words, if you did a survey with a “yes” and “no” answer, the user might answer by checking both. Now this inconvenience will finally be solved, when creating the survey you can limit it to only one option.
As reported by WABetaInfo, this feature that improves the functionality of the surveys in WhatsApp is still in development and will appear in a future update of the application. In the following screenshot you can see how the application plans to implement the possibility of limiting to choose a single option.
This will go a long way in avoiding ambiguity or confusion regarding the results of a survey. Think regarding it, if you as a survey creator limit users to choose a single option, you will surely obtain clearer and more precise results.
How can I create polls on WhatsApp?
The procedure is as simple as sending any image, follow these steps:
- Open the WhatsApp application
- Go to the chat where you want to do the survey, it can be a group chat or that of a contact.
- Now press the clip icon at the bottom to display the functions.
- You will see the options for documents, camera, gallery… and at the end you will see “Survey”.
- Now you just have to click on the survey and add a question with answer options.
- To finish, click on the send icon and your survey will appear in the chat.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the procedure is super simple, if you are clear regarding what your survey will be regarding, it will surely not take more time than sending any other file.
Regarding the user approval management function that we mentioned at the beginning, WABetaInfo explains that in the last update of WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.6.9 from the Play Store and the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS 23.5.0.74 update, the social media company is debuting a new feature that offers the ability to manage the approval of new entrants. Thanks to this feature, new members will not be able to join a group directly, but will pass a filter that is under the control of the administrator. You can read the full article by clicking here.
