The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerbergannounced today through a message on the company’s official Instagram channel and by a Facebook post the arrival of another novelty to the WhatsApp: the possibility of share device screen during a video call.
In tests at least since June, the feature is being released for both smartphones (iOS and Android) and Windows computers. On the iPhone, it can be accessed through a new “Share” button at the bottom of the Messenger interface during a video call. It also already supports broadcasts in landscape mode.
According to WhatsApp itself, the user can also choose whether to show only a specific application or the entire device screen.
Whether it’s sharing documents at work, showing family photos, planning a vacation or shopping online with friends, or just helping grandparents with some errands — the tool lets you show your screen live during the call.
The feature is being released gradually and should be available to all users in the coming days. The messenger wasn’t clear when and if it intends to expand screen sharing to macOS, however.
