A number of users of the instant communication application “WhatsApp” complained of being subjected to fraud attempts from international numbers, which shows that the application has once once more become a tool in the hands of fraudsters in the virtual world.
The Mint news site reported that fraudsters are using WhatsApp once more to trap users of the app.
In the details, a number of more than 2 billion users of the application complained of receiving suspicious calls from different countries, including:
- Ethiopia (251+)
- Malaysia (60+)
- Indonesia (62+)
- Kenya (254+)
- Vietnam (84+)
However, these number introductions do not necessarily mean that the scammers have made calls or sent messages from these countries, especially if we take into account that WhatsApp calls can be made over the Internet.
Fraudsters can also buy international numbers from agencies in this or that country.
Many users on the micro-blogging site “Twitter” revealed that they had been exposed to fraud attempts via “WhatsApp”, such as an Indian user who said that he had received 3 calls from Indonesia.
What do users do if they receive these calls?
At the present time, it is preferable to ignore these calls and not answer them, and they can also block and report the owners of these calls.
