WhatsApp finally launches the function ‘Send a message to yourself’

we use WhatsApp for almost everything. The instant messaging application allows you to have individual or group conversations, video calls, send photos, audio at different speeds and do surveys, one of his latest novelties. But users were missing an essential function, that of sending each other a message to themselves. And it’s already available.

As confirmed by Meta to TechCrunch, the company has just launched this function that allows us to send messages to ourselves, such as reminders, shopping lists or images that we need to have on hand. This medium anticipates that it will be rolled out globally for iOS and Android users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp has been testing the ‘Send a message to yourself’ option since the end of October, as anticipated WaBetaInfo. This new feature was only available in beta for Android and iOS, as the company usually does when it releases a new tool. The novelty, no less, is that it seems that it has decided to implement it with some speed. At other times, it takes several months to reach all users globally.

According to TechCrunch, this improvement will roll out globally for iOS and Android users in the coming weeks. The user will notice the update quickly. This new option will appear at the top of the contact list when creating new messages. If we want to use it, we will only have to click on it and send all the content that is needed: notes, reminders, shopping list, images or special dates. WhatsApp will allow this conversation to be anchored at the top of our list with two objectives: to facilitate access and not to lose chat in the meantime.

Until now, the instant messaging platform did not offer this possibility. The closest thing required a few tricks: creating a group with only one member (us) or using the ‘Click to chat’ feature.

Signal and Telegram already have a similar function

WhatsApp doesn’t want its competitors to get ahead of it. Signal already offers a similar function called ‘Private Notes’, a chat to send messages to oneself. “Use this feature to write down something for yourself to review later or to share messages and files with your linked devices,” says the company in its user help service. Even temporary messages can be sent. This Signal tool is available in three versions: Android, iOS, and desktop.

Telegram also has a similar option. If we need to write down something or any reminder, the user can go to the options column and click on ‘Saved messages’. There, you can write whatever you want with no space limit.
