Owners of iPhones who do not have at least the iOS 15.1 installed will lose, from the day March 5, 2025support for WhatsApp on your devices. Therefore, iOS versions 12, 13 and 14 will no longer be able to run the messenger.

The new requirement was published on a WhatsApp support pagewhich indicates that, currently, all devices running at least iOS 12 are compatible with the service (at least until the aforementioned date), something that came into effect from mid-2022.

This means that among the currently supported models, the iPhone 5s and the iPhones 6/6 Plus will no longer support WhatsApp — as they cannot be updated to iOS 15 — nor, therefore, to 15.1.

As also indicated on the WhatsApp support page, users of these devices will be notified through notifications and will receive reminders about the end of support on the systems mentioned above.
