WhatsApp could store your chats via AI: it helps give better answers…

Meta AI Could Soon Be Your New Personal Assistant: Privacy, Anyone?

Meta AI may soon be able to store important personal information from your WhatsApp chats, offering a more personalized experience but also increasing privacy risks.

Right, gather round everyone! Get ready for the latest in tech wizardry that brings us one step closer to being best mates with our phones! You know, I always thought my phone was like a clingy ex who remembers every little thing about me. Turns out Meta is about to make that relationship a whole lot weirder. They’re testing a new feature for WhatsApp, which will allow their artificial intelligence (yes, I hear some of you groaning) to store your personal chit-chat. What’s next? Having it pick your outfits?

Could MetaAI know too much about you?

Let’s dive deeper into this curious concoction of convenience and chaos! The WhatsApp 2.24.22.9 beta version has shed some light on this “chat memory” functionality. Imagine you casually mention you’re allergic to peanuts — great for avoiding that 3-course dinner, right? But also a tad unsettling since your phone might soon know more about your dietary restrictions than your mother does. “Oh, you’re allergic? Didn’t you tell me that last Tuesday?” It’s like having a well-meaning friend who just has a bit too much information!

Now, this “Memory Feature” sounds beneficial — your own virtual assistant remembering you’re vegan while suggesting where to have lunch. I mean, why shouldn’t I have an AI that remembers my food preferences? It’s not like I’m ever confused after a couple of drinks, looking at the menu, pondering life’s big questions. “Why do I keep ordering calamari when I’m allergic to shellfish?” Well, fear not, Meta will be there to give you a digital nudge! Just imagine chatbot banter that doesn’t suggest drowning you in peanuts while planning your dinner party.

However, we need to tackle the elephant in the room — privacy. Yes, my friends, while your virtual assistant might be able to serenade you with personalized recommendations for your next meal, it’s also like inviting a super nosy neighbor into your living room. Will you let Meta’s AI store your deepest secrets, like your Netflix binge-watching habits or the fact you’re still a fan of the 90s boy bands? Or will you start looking over your shoulders, wondering if Meta’s AI is spreading your secrets faster than gossip in a hair salon?

On one hand, you can keep track of those *really* important chats and even have automatic reminders which transform your scattered thoughts into vibrant life goals. On the other hand, it’s crucial to wonder how Meta plans to protect our precious data. They promise full control over what the AI remembers and what it forgets, which is comforting…until you realize they had my location on a map of favored burger joints last summer!

So, what do you think? Are you ready to let Meta’s AI become your self-appointed Sherlock Holmes, exploring the nooks and crannies of your digital life? Or will you flee in horror at the thought of a chatty robot knowing your latte preferences before you do? Tell us in the comments below! I’m curious to know if you’re prepared to embrace this digitized camaraderie or if you’d rather go back to a simpler era: carrier pigeons, perhaps?

Meta AI may soon be able to store important personal information from your WhatsApp chats, offering a more personalized experience but also increasing privacy risks.

As reported by WABetaInfo, Meta is reportedly testing a new feature for WhatsApp that will allow artificial intelligence to store relevant information from users’ conversations. The feature, spotted in a recent beta of the Android app, is not yet accessible to beta testers, but could be made available soon.

The goal is to make the user experience more personalized and contextualized. For example, if the user mentions being allergic to a certain food in a chat, Meta AI will be able to remember this and avoid suggesting that food in the future, perhaps when the user asks for restaurant recommendations. However, the function also raises various concerns: so let’s try to understand it better.

Could MetaAI know too much about you?

The new beta version for Android, WhatsApp 2.24.22.9, available on the Google Play Store, has revealed that Meta AI will soon be able to store important information from users’ conversations. As shown in the screenshot, Meta AI will be able to remember personal details such as food preferences (for example, if the user is vegan), date of birth, preferred conversation style, allergies and specific interests (books, documentaries, podcasts).

This “chat memory” will allow Meta AI to provide more relevant and personalized responses and suggestions. For example, if the user asks for restaurant recommendations, Meta AI will avoid offering dishes to which the user is allergic or which he or she has previously expressed not liking. The goal is to make interaction with Meta AI more natural and engaging, transforming the chatbot into a real personal assistant capable of adapting to the individual needs of each user.

Integrating AI that can remember conversations could offer numerous benefits. In addition to greater customization, it could simplify the organization of chats, allowing you to easily retrieve important information or create automatic reminders based on conversations. Importantly, users will have full control over the information stored by Meta AI, being able to update or delete data at any time. Nonetheless, this new feature raises some privacy concerns.

Meta AI’s ability to store personal information from conversations could in fact pose risks to user privacy. It will therefore be essential that Meta takes adequate measures to protect user data and ensure transparency regarding the use of this information.

What do you think? Would you agree to let Meta’s AI store your personal information to have these benefits? Tell us yours in the comments below.
