WhatsApp beta releases a function that allows you to change the caption of forwarded images

While working on animated emojis and other new features, WhatsApp beta for iOS received a new update this Friday to improve the feature that allows you to insert captions in videos, images and GIFs.

According to the folks at WABetaInfo, it’s now possible to include an additional caption to an image that is forwarded. With this, the user can add his personal touch to the image before forwarding it to some group, for example.

As you can see below, this additional context can be inserted into any uploaded image. After removing the current caption, a new description can be sent as a separate message to let everyone in the conversation know that it doesn’t belong in the original message.

This new feature is part of the feedback that WhatsApp received from the public, and it avoids misinterpretations and misunderstandings in everyday life.

For now, the feature is only being tested with beta users on iOS, but it shouldn’t be long before the functionality also arrives on Android.

On another front, the messenger has been working to improve the video messaging feature and even to deliver a new interface to the application on Android.
