Messenger service Whatsapp announced a privacy update on Twitter. On Monday last week, the Meta subsidiary announced that messages can be deleted up to two days following they are sent, like “Watson.ch” writes. Since Tuesday, the messenger service has been on Twitter and via its Blog now three more functions that are intended to improve the privacy of users.
Later this month, it should be possible for all users to leave a group chat without notifying all chat members. After the update, the app only notifies the administrators of the respective group chat, as Whatsapp writes. Also scheduled for this month a function that testers discovered in a beta version back in July. Accordingly, in the future users will be able to decide who can see their own online status.

In addition, according to the company, users should be able to set a screenshot lock in the future. It is already possible today to share photos or other media in such a way that the recipients can only look at them once. At the moment, media sent in this way can still be captured in a screenshot. The new lock blocks the screenshot function on the receiving device while a single-view message is displayed. This function is currently still in the test phase and will be available to users “soon”.
Whatsapp has not yet announced an exact date for the introduction of the updates.
