WhatsApp announces native sticker editor on iPhone

O WhatsApp has just made its official native sticker editing featurewhich had been released to messenger testers earlier this week and had been in development since the beginning of last year.

According to the Meta application team, the new feature will make it possible to create new stickers without needing a third-party editor or dragging an image from the phone’s gallery. The idea here is for the user to continue having fun in their conversations “without giving up the security of WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption”.

The new feature has an automatic cropping feature very similar to that of iOS, as well as text, drawing tools and “the ability to superimpose other stickers”. The adjustments are saved whenever the user sends a sticker to a conversation, so that they can be found once more in the message tray. stickers of the messenger.

As we explained at the beginning of the week, it is possible to create new stickers from scratch (from images saved in the gallery) or edit existing stickers. To create one from scratch, simply open your sticker tray, select the “Create sticker” and choose an image from your gallery. Once that’s done, just customize it as you prefer and send it to your contacts.

The way to edit a sticker existing one is similar: first, open the sticker tray. Then, press and hold the sticker you want to change for a few seconds and tap “Edit sticker“. From there, just make the desired changes and see!

According to WhatsApp, the new feature will begin to be released to messenger users on iOS 17 “in the next few days”. Those still running older versions of iOS will be able to edit stickers existing ones, but not create new ones, according to the company.

There is still no information, however, regarding when this tool will land on Android.
