WhatsApp adds a feature identical to Instagram

Instant messaging platforms continue to grow and attract the attention of many users. In light of this, it was announced that WhatsApp is adding a feature identical to Instagram to improve the user experience.

According to data from Statista, more than 3 billion people use instant messaging services every day, surpassing the use of traditional social networks. This trend responds to the need for immediacy and the possibility of connecting with others in real time, regardless of the distance.

According to Sinch data, WhatsApp, WeChat and Facebook Messenger are the most popular messaging apps in the world, with more than 4 billion users together, more than half of the world’s population.

What’s new in WhatsApp

It has been revealed that WhatsApp is working on new features that will completely transform statuses, as users will be able to mention their contacts and repost statuses where they have been mentioned, Instagram-style.

According to WaBetaInfo, these tools are being developed for devices running the Android operating system.

With this option, when a user is about to upload a status, be it an image or a video, they will see an ‘@’ icon right next to the text box.

Additionally, when you mention a contact, they will receive a notification informing them that they have been mentioned in the status update. Additionally, the contact will receive a message in their chat with the user, indicating that they have been mentioned.

It is important to note that these mentions are private, meaning that other viewers of the status will not be able to see who has been mentioned. Only the mentioned contact will receive the notification and message in their chat, ensuring that the interaction remains confidential between the user and the mentioned contact, as the mention will not be visible to anyone else viewing the status.

Another tool will be to repost statuses on WhatsApp and when a user is mentioned in a status, they will have the option to easily repost it by clicking the ‘Reshare status’ function.

This new feature will allow users to share statuses in which they have been tagged, encouraging more dynamic and connected interaction between contacts within the platform.

It is worth mentioning that many social networks are adding new tools to their platforms, such as Instagram, which added new fonts to its systems to improve consumer experiences.
