What’s open or closed for the Easter holiday in Toronto

On Good Friday, Sunday and Easter Monday, the hours of government services, institutions and businesses are modified. Here’s a guide to what’s open or closed on this holiday in Toronto.

Road and parking closures:

The Beaches Neighborhood Easter Parade returns this Sunday at 2 p.m., rain or shine. The parade will depart from Queen Street East and Munro Park and head west along Queen Street to Woodbine Avenue.

Parking in this area of ​​Queen Street East will be affected beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday from Fallingbrook Road to Neville Park Boulevard.

Lake Shore Boulevard, from Woodbine Avenue to Coxwell Avenue westbound, will be completely closed.

On Good Friday, Sunday and Easter Monday, Toronto Police will not enforce regulations in restricted areas, during peak hours and at signs that indicate Monday through Friday restrictions.

Public transport:

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will apply the Sunday to Good Friday regime.

On Saturday, there will be no subway service on line 1 between Lawrence and St. Clair stations, or on line 2 between Warden and Kennedy stations due to construction. Shuttles will run between stations.

On Sunday, subway service on Line 2 between Warden and Kennedy stations will begin at noon.

Starting Monday, subway service on Line 1 between Osgoode and King stations will end at 11 p.m. for tunnel maintenance.

Groceries and shops:

Most grocery stores will open on a holiday schedule and will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

The Eaton Center is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Monday. However, some shopping centers are closed on Friday and Sunday. This is particularly the case for the Yorkdale, Scarborough and Vaughan centres.

LCBO, Beer Store and Cannabis Stores:

Beer Stores and LCBO branches will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Some LCBO stores may be open at modified hours on Easter Monday.

There will be no cannabis deliveries on Good Friday. Orders placed that day may be slightly delayed, says the Ontario Cannabis Society (OCS).

Tourist attractions :

Most museums are open from Friday to Monday. The CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium and the Art Gallery of Ontario are also open.

Other public services:

Government offices will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Toronto Public Library branches will be closed throughout the Easter holiday.

COVID-19 vaccination clinics:

The campaign of vaccination in the subway continues at nine stations, from noon to 7 p.m. all weekend, including Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Other vaccination clinics will also be held at the following locations:

  • Fire Station at 1904 Queen Street East: Sunday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Earl Bales Community Center: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Humberwood Community Center: 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Scarborough Museum: 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Stephen Leacock Community Recreation Center: 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Wallace Emerson Community Center: 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
