Update KB5025305 for Windows 11 was released on April 25th as an optional patch and brings new features, enhancements and bug fixes. Highlights include a new option to prioritize updates unrelated to Windows security and changes to firewall rules, allowing the administrator to configure application group rules.
It is important to remember that this optional patch will not be automatically downloaded and installed. To apply it on your computer, you need to access the “Update and Security” section in the “Settings” application and click on “download and install”. Note that these same changes will be implemented in the May 2023 Patch Tuesday for Windows 11.
Update KB5025305 for Windows 11 22H2 (Build 22621.1635)
Windows 11 build 22621.1635 brings a new update option to prioritize non-security patches for the operating system. To use the feature, just click on the Start menu, access the Settings application, go to Windows Update and activate the option “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available”. Microsoft explains regarding the functionality by saying:
If you set the toggle to Off or On, you will still receive regular security updates as usual. The toggle determines how quickly you get additional non-security updates, fixes, feature updates, and improvements.
With the Get Latest Updates As Soon As Available Toggle set to ‘On’, you can be assured that you will have access to the latest changes as soon as they are available for your device, you will be given priority for future updates and you will still receive updates security as usual.
Windows 11 preview update KB5025305 brings some new features along with fixes and improvements. This time, we highlight the following changes:
- [Novo] Added animations to some icons in the Widgets taskbar button. These animations are triggered when: a new ad appears on the taskbar widgets button or when you hover over or click the taskbar widgets button.
- [Novo] Implemented a new toggle control on the Settings > Windows Update page. By enabling it, your device will prioritize getting the latest non-security updates and enhancements when they are available for your device. For managed devices, switching is disabled by default. - Fixed an issue affecting Microsoft Edge IE mode. Pop-ups opened in the background instead of in the foreground.
- Fixed a bug affecting the Chinese input method. You cannot see all of the first suggested item.
In addition to the above changes, Microsoft has listed some improvements that were implemented with the installation of Windows 11 version 22H2 complication 22621.1635. Are they:

- Fixed an issue that displayed the Task View in the wrong area. This occurred when closing a full screen game by pressing Win+Tab.
- Fixed a bug that occurred when using a PIN to sign in to Windows Hello for Business (for businesses). Signing in to Remote Desktop Services failed. The error message that appeared was “The request is not supported”.
- Fixed an issue affecting administrator account lockout policies. GPResult and Resultant Set of Policy did not report this.
- Fixed a bug affecting the Unified Write Filter (UWF). When deactivating using a call to Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), the device became unresponsive.
- Fixed an issue affecting the Resilient File System (ReFS). A stop error occurred that prevented the operating system from booting correctly.
- Fixed a bug that affected MySQL commands. Commands failed on Windows Xenon containers.
- Fixed a bug affecting SMB Direct. Endpoints were not available on systems that use multibyte character sets.
- Addressed an issue affecting applications using DirectX on older Intel graphics drivers. You may receive an “apphelp.dll” error.
- Fixed a bug affecting the legacy LAPS (Local Administrator Password Solution) and the new Windows LAPS feature. He might not manage the configured local account password. This occurred when installing the legacy LAPS .msi file following installing the Windows April 11, 2023 Update on computers that have a legacy LAPS policy.
If you have installed previous updates, only the new changes contained in this patch will be downloaded and installed on your computer.
